Recently, I have been busy podcasting. This creative outlet has been fun and educational. The concept is to engage in conversations regarding healthcare, leadership, medicine, politics, etc. from the perspectives of physicians, mid-level providers, patients, administrators, nurses, and assistants. I hope that we share knowledge and help one another out in an entertaining fashion.
I started by describing perspectives regarding burnout and the stories that I have heard throughout my career. Though cathartic, the first podcast was a stepping stone towards the conversations.
The second episode was not my first conversation but was a compelling and inspiring story told from the perspective of the patient.
Crucial accountability was my second recording. My guests are distinguished military leaders who I have had the privilege of serving alongside. Additionally, I got to reconnect with my friends through that conversation. We are already plotting our future podcasts.
We are currently recording a series of conversations regarding the current state of healthcare as well as what the ideal healthcare system would look like from different perspectives. We have recorded the first from the perspective of different primary care providers. We will be recording the perspectives of the consumers of healthcare in different States as well as socio-economic statuses. The administrative, nurse and assistant perspectives are planned.
Though I am dealing with my burnout by engaging in creative outlets such as my blog and podcasts, some of my colleagues are planning to leave patient care for administrative roles. I am looking forward to my conversation with them regarding their decisions and hopes for their new roles.
Since my compartment syndrome, it was evident that I had a traumatic brain injury that went undiagnosed. My wife provided her perspectives on the last 2 years from her perspective and that podcast will be published in 4 weeks on August 11th!
These creative outlets are also providing me valuable skills which I am reinvesting into my current job. My boss and I are planning a podcast for our upcoming residency. By the way, our Family Medicine Residency is starting in July 2022!
Though I will be moving back to my home state in the next few years, we have built something from nothing and I have found a great feeling of accomplishment. When I came to this city, the plan was to build a Family Medicine Residency for the military. However, the plan was never fully executed and my current job was a second opportunity. Mission complete.
My future in medicine is leaning back home and creating my clinic. My father has owned his own business for years, the next phase is creating the same for me. Below is my new logo. Wish me luck!
Lastly, I am trying my hand at writing a book. I plan to keep that to myself until it is something ready to share.
Check out the podcast, Doc Talk- Revolutionary Healthcare, on Buzzsprout, Spotify, Pocket Casts, YouTube, etc.
I hope that you all have a healthy and productive day.
